Sweets and Serenades – Tomorrow, Friday April 28th

AUCTION BIDDING IS ONLINE THIS YEAR – SET YOURS UP BEFORE YOU GO!

Instead of receiving a bidder number at the door and writing down your bids on sheets at the tables, a phone app will enable you to view all auction items and place your bids.

You can set up your account at home on your computer including adding credit card information, add the free app to your phone, and then be ready when you arrive on Friday using this link.  It will also give you a sneak peak of the items.

Help will also be on hand at the auction help table. If you are unable or prefer not to use your smartphone during the event, there is a table set up with a “proxy bidder” who can handle your bids for you.

Finally, YES, you can still attend. Event cost is $15 per person or $25 per couple. There will be live music, desserts, a wine bar, and a silent auction. We will be auctioning off things from small antiques to Club Sweet for a South Bend Cubs game and many more items.

Usher Help Needed: Matt is Gone Next Three Sundays

If you can help out April 30, May 7, or May 14, please call or text Matt at 574-261-8318. Thanks!!

Next Steps: Ministry and Call Committee- Please Nominate Now

As we know, Pastor Borger has asked to move toward scaling back a bit by September 2024, which would also mean a “step up” for Pastor Clark.  Since this would adjust the “call” of both men, we have to have a “Ministry and Call Committee” even to explore the options.  Per our bylaws, a Voter’s Assembly needs to “charge” MLT to form this kind of Committee.  So, we’re going to ask for that vote at our regular Voter’s Assembly on June 4th.

At the same time, the Call Committee needs the bulk of the summer for its first major task, which will be to put together and administer a survey of the congregation.  Therefore, MLT would like to go ahead and start getting input on who might serve on that Committee.

The Committee should have about 5-8 members – at least one Elder, one MLT member, and enough at-large members to represent a cross-section of the congregation. Please consider whether you or another fellow member here at St. Peter might be someone for MLT to consider and then pass that name on to President Jeff Luppes (luppes.jeffrey@gmail.com) or Head Elder Chuck Ryan (CharlesRyan9036@aol.com).

Hello from the Borgers and Homanns in the Holy Land!

The Holy Land: Holy Week Presentation PLUS New Extras!

On Palm Sunday, Anna Leeper presented pictures and stories from sites in the Holy Land important to Holy Week. But she also had other great material she didn’t get to share. She graciously has created two video presentations, one on the Holy Land material and one on the “extras.” Each includes an audio voiceover explanation. Please take advantage of this excellent opportunity to learn more about the setting of so much of Scripture and the story of Israel and her Messiah, our Lord Jesus. You may view both videos on our member page (same password as posts for this site): splcm.org/member-login.

Want to support RLA? Consider being an MLEA delegate!

Some delegates to the Michiana Lutheran Education Association (MLEA) serve on the Board. But some serve more as key volunteers at the school and cheerleaders for RLA at St. Peter. Do you feel God tugging on your heart in either direction? Talk to Rob Hunt (MLT Nominations Chair) or Jackie Homann or Brian Ruch (current MLEA President and VP)!

YOUR Help is Needed as an Usher!

The Body of Christ is in need of 2-4 more permanent members on the Usher Team, to make a lighter rotation for everyone and ensure coverage. We also need families or groups to sign up especially for a Sunday in May, as head usher Matt Rockwell will have some Sundays he can’t be here. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity and see Matt after worship or email him at rockwellmatt87@gmail.com.

“Sunday Startup” for HEART Members – 10am Sundays at the Font

We are re-starting Sunday Startup. This is for the doorkeeper, lector, usher, greeter, and elder for the day–as well as any medical person / EMT or Stephen Minister present. Join us around the font to identify ourselves to each other and pray for the worship service.

Vacation Bible School

St. Peter is pleased to announce that we will once again help sponsor Vacation Bible School at RLA the week of June 12-16. We are heading to Babylon to witness Daniel’s courage in captivity. Information is available at the slat wall for how to register to volunteer and for children to attend. The donation board and an Amazon wishlist are available by the slat wall for you to help provide needed items. See Krista Hunt or Melissa Luster-Bartz if you have any questions.

Bring your coffee and pray – for our Grant Application, Overture, Convention, and more

Gather with Deaconess Amy Smessaert at 10am on Sundays for 6-8 minutes of prayer for St. Peter, Pastor Clark, and the Church. We will pray for our Renewal Grant application and our Overture but also for the wider health and mission of the LCMS as we move toward Convention and for the Body of Christ as a whole. Meet in the south end of the sanctuary, by the stairwell.
