The News
Prayer Partners: This Sunday, Feb 15 at 9:40am
Just a follow-up reminder to all parents with kids and all adult prayer partners that kids and partners will meet for prayer this Sunday, Feb 15 at 9:40am. Kids in Mrs. Borger’s class (the youngest) should stay there and prayer partners will join them for the final craft and a little prayer. All others should pair up in the Sanctuary, as before. Pastor Borger will be present to help facilitate and support any kids whose prayer partners have to be absent. Discuss one thing you are thankful for, one thing to ask God’s help about, then pray!
Meal Train for Don and Amy Smessaert
Amy had a slip-and-fall incident that required reconstructive surgery (2/10) on her elbow, and will undergo a rather intensive recovery process. Don is having extensive oral surgery (2/16) and will also be “out of commission” for a bit. Please use this link to participate in the ministry of caring for their meal needs during this time!
Parenting Group: THIS Sunday, Feb 15
Share your parenting joys and challenges with others and receive godly wisdom and support. Next gathering is Sunday, February 15, following worship in the fellowship hall. All parents are welcome! Adult supervision for children is available in the Sunday School area. See Renee with questions.
Dying His Death, Living His Life: Lent Begins Feb. 18 with Ash Wednesday Worship

Please note, there is no meal served before Ash Wednesday. Suppers begin the following week (February 25) for midweek Lenten services.
Pick Up Your Devotional: ONE PER HOUSEHOLD, please

Many devotionals focus on leading us gradually to Holy Week. In contrast, each day in this year’s Lenten devotional looks deeper into one moment in that final week of Christ’s earthly life and ministry. In other words – tying in to our Wednesday theme – in each, you will find your imagination awakened and your heart thrust more deeply into one of the ways we may “die his death, to live his life.” May the Lord bless us as we dwell this Lent “On Calvary’s Hill”!

Adult Sunday Study (9am): John’s Gospel and Letters
St. Augustine, Martin Luther, and Billy Graham all point to John’s Gospel as the first bible book everyone should read and know well. Yet while the other three Gospels each get their own year in our Sunday lectionary, John is only woven in among them in bits and pieces. Join us Sunday mornings at 9am as we put together the whole picture – and see how it transforms our lives and our worship of the Lord. Bring your bible (or use ours) and a notebook if desired. Sewing Group Needs Sheets!
If you have old or unused bed sheets, please bring them to the sewing ladies! They can use any size, flat or fitted. They prefer cotton or cotton-poly, but any sheet will be gratefully accepted. See Nancy Kroll with questions. And thank you so much!

Sunday School Lessons
Parents (and prayer partners, too!), check here each week for what your children will be hearing about in Sunday School.
15 February (Unit 2, Lesson 12) – In our Christian education time this week, we study “A Life Restored.” Jairus, a synagogue ruler, comes to Jesus, begging Him to heal his critically ill daughter. Along the way, servants come with news of his daughter’s death. Taking along Peter, James, and John, Jesus ignores the mourners, takes the young girl by the hand, and tells her, “Arise.” And rise she does, demonstrating Jesus’ power over death itself.
Thank You – and Thanks be to God

Sunday Servants Gather Before Worship
All who help lead the Divine Service gather promptly at 10:05am to take 3 minutes to prepare their hearts and minds for worship. If you are serving as altar guild, usher, crucifer/acolyte, lector, greeter, tech person, elder, musician/dancer, doorkeeper or other HEART member, etc. on a particular Sunday, please come together for quick introductions and short prayer led by Deaconess Amy Smessaert. Together, we will ask God to bless our service to God’s people as we live connected in spiritual formation in Christ.
