In order to prepare for Pastor Borger’s transition to office space upstairs in the choir room, St. Peter requests your assistance with the following:
WORKDAY 1 – LIGHT MOVING: Sunday, May 19th after worship (move items that can be carried in arms to balcony and other locations)
WORKDAY 2 – HEAVY MOVING: Wednesday, May 22nd from 6:30-8:30pm (move heavy cabinets, desks, piano, etc., to balcony)
WORKDAY 3 – HEAVY MOVING, WALL/FLOOR PREP: Thursday, May 23rd from 6:30-8:30pm (finish moving heavy items; fix 25 foot-long drywall crack along bottom of ceiling; tear out rubber baseboard trim; remove loose, cracked floor tiles; remove light fixtures and cap off wiring)
WORKDAY 4 – INSTALL LIGHT UNITS: date and time TBD (in June, after ceiling is painted)
If you are willing to help in any of these areas, please sign up under the slat wall or let the office know (574-255-5585 or office@splcm.org). Thanks so much for your assistance with this transition!
SUMMER WORSHIP!
THIS Sunday, May 19, is Pentecost Sunday! Wear red!
Beginning next Sunday, May 26, we will gather for Divine Worship at 9am. When are we gathering for Divine Worship??? (Fill in the blank. Say it out loud to yourself so you remember.) What date does summer worship begin? (Say it out loud again for yourself, the way Pastor Clark would lead us if he could be with us for post-worship announcements. You’ll remember it that way, we promise!) Sunday School for children and adults will not meet again until fall. But we still BIOMEN SYNDESMOI each week in worship, at 9am, throughout the summer. “Jesus wasn’t kidding!” Come, let the Word tickle your ears as we gather by the long arms of the cross to cure our homesickness.
St. Peter Pilgrimages & Renewal
(Lilly Grant)
NOTE to Pilgrimage Coordinators
As the weather turns warmer, more pilgrimages are being finalized. This is GREAT! Please remember to submit a Pilgrimage Update Form as pilgrimage dates are set and groups confirmed.
And, if you are looking for a few more folks to join your pilgrimage, consider placing that invitation in these announcements. Information is due to Renee in the church office by 10am Thursdays.
One more thing – if you have completed a pilgrimage, remember to:
- Submit photos to office@splcm.org.
- Ask everyone in your group to complete a pilgrimage Connection Stories Form (available online or on the slat wall).
- Complete a Reimbursement Form on the slat wall
Update on SPLC Local Pilgrimages
- Fishing with the Schroeders Pilgrimage – Saturday, May 18
- Old Rugged Cross Pilgrimage – Sunday, May 19
- Labyrinth Pilgrimage – Kick-off meeting Sunday, May 19. Small groups will be visiting area labyrinths through mid-July; a large group meal is being planned for later in July.
Let us pray: Loving God, we thank You for the gift of this Year of Renewal at St. Peter, and for the opportunities pilgrimages provide to live connected with You and with one another. Send your Holy Spirit with those on various pilgrimages – Fishing with the Schroeders, Old Rugged Cross, and Labyrinths. May they experience the joy of Your presence and the joy of fellowship. Bless these groups of pilgrims, keep them safely in Your care, and refresh their spirits. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Ministry Updates and Opportunities
Hannah’s House Looking for Volunteer Babysitters
Hannah’s House is in need of volunteer babysitters during the summer to help cover two evenings a week while the moms are attending their programming at the Leep home in Mishawaka.
No experience necessary. Whether you are a seasoned babysitter or someone who just enjoys holding babies or young toddlers, they welcome any volunteer and all experiences. A background check will be required.
The hours are Wednesdays 6-8:30 pm and Thursdays 5:15-8:30 pm, but even if you are only available for a portion of the time, they greatly appreciate any help.
If you are interested, please contact Lori Palmer at lori@hannahshousemichiana.org or talk to Halrun Luppes for more details.
Thank you for your support!
Opportunity in Stephen Ministry
Stephen Ministry is seeking additional leaders (one or two). The time commitment is a few hours a month; the responsibilities are split up among team members.
We seek and prepare new Stephen Ministers, work with potential care receivers, provide supervision and continuing education, and make others aware of the ministry. Interested? Talk to Amy Smessaert or Vickie Hess.
Sunday Servants Gather Before Worship
All who help lead the Divine Service will gather for 5 minutes by the font at 10 a.m. to prepare their hearts and minds for worship. If you are serving as altar guild, usher, crucifer/acolyte, lector, greeter, tech person, elder, musician/dancer, doorkeeper or other HEART member, etc. on a particular Sunday, please come together for quick introductions and short prayer led by Deaconess Amy Smessaert. Together, we will ask God to bless our service to God’s people as we live connected in spiritual formation in Christ. All confirmands and parents are encouraged to participate, whether or not you are serving on that Sunday.
Friday Night Bible Study
The FNBS has its last meeting TONIGHT, May 17 at 6:30pm for dinner, followed by study beginning at 7pm. This year’s focus has been Chad Bird’s book, Limping with God: Jacob and the Old Testament Guide to Messy Discipleship. Anyone is welcome to join; no previous bible study experience needed!
Jacob seems to be anything but a model disciple. And yet he is also “Israel,” the namesake of the Old Testament community of God, chosen and blessed. In Jacob’s life we see our lives, our struggles, our failures… but most especially, the God who loves us and chooses us as his own. Come explore Jacob’s story as we learn more together about ourselves and about the God of Israel, who is with us and for us in Jesus the Messiah.
Book: Check it out or order here (the church will cover the cost if needed)
Time: Meal, 6:30pm | Study 7-8:30pm
Dates: 1st and 3rd Fridays [May 17]
Where: Fellowship Hall
Sign-up: Please contact either John Schroeder (jschroeind@aol.com) or Mike Fonck (mfonck@comcast.net) to let them know you’re interested.
