RLA Expansion Next Steps Cafe: Sunday, July 13 after Worship
The surveys are in and the results are positive! Come enjoy a little hospitality and hear plans for our next steps. There also will be an opportunity to make a definite pledge and commitment for those who so desire. This is the final milestone to prepare us to make a definite decision on building. We will keep it short and to the point: a 15-minute presentation, followed by discussion. After half an hour of discussion, we will pause so that those who are satisfied may leave; any with lingering questions will be invited to stay, and our Director of Development and Team will remain until all are answered.
PLEASE NOTE Summer Schedule: Worship and Office Hours
Until Rally Day this fall, worship will begin at 9am and Sunday School will be in recess. Make a note! If you show up at 10:07, you will not be early!
Also, the office hours for summer will be Tuesday and Thursday from about 10:30am to about 12:30pm, and Wednesday from about 1-3pm. These times are subject to a bit of “flexing” since there’s very little that needs to happen at a very specific time in the summer – please extend grace. Emailing the office is the surest way to get a response or coordinate a time to drop in!
Thank You – and Thanks be to God!
- For Krista and all the volunteers who made VBS such an amazing week!
- For Ninette Deliyannides who led the NYG kids in a fun tie-dyeing session so they can all have matching shirts in New Orleans!
- For Amy Smessaert who visits our homebound folks.
- For Matt Rockwell and Mike Germann who put up the new basketball hoop in the parking lot.
- For those who continue to exercise ministries to our faithful gathered around the Long Arms of the Cross.

News, Info, and Ministry Opportunities
Dear Church Families,
I hope that you have already heard about some of the fun from our VBS week where we were in the Alaskan wilderness of “True North” learning to “trust Jesus in a Wild World.” God was so good in bringing us participants, volunteers, and protection so that we could have an amazing week of Bible learning, songs, and activities. To those of you who helped in any capacity and/or prayed for our program, THANK YOU so very much. It would not have worked without each and every one of you!
This was the sixth year of hosting a “RLA VBS” event with our first being held in 2019. We had 58 families and 95 children register to attend. 89 participants attended at least one day, with 80-86 children attending each day. We had 13 SPLC volunteers who helped in some way with at least one day during the week or with some type of preparation. My favorite group of volunteers is RLA alums who help; this year we had 7.
I am so thankful for the financial support from St. Peter as well as the numerous personal donations that people make. We offer our program at no cost to our participants, and with everyone’s generosity and support from Thrivent financial, we are able to host an event with fun decorations, t-shirts for participants, and many activities. Many thanks also to RLA for opening their building for our program.
It’s never too early to sign up to help for next year’s program where we will be traveling to South America for “Rainforest Falls” to “explore the nature of God.” Planning starts early, so be sure to reach out if you want to be involved.

Sunday Servants Gather Before Worship
All who help lead the Divine Service gather promptly at 8:55am to take 3 minutes to prepare their hearts and minds for worship. If you are serving as altar guild, usher, crucifer/acolyte, lector, greeter, tech person, elder, musician/dancer, doorkeeper or other HEART member, etc. on a particular Sunday, please come together for quick introductions and short prayer led by Deaconess Amy Smessaert. Together, we will ask God to bless our service to God’s people as we live connected in spiritual formation in Christ.
