Adult Sunday Study (9am): John’s Gospel and Letters

St. Augustine, Martin Luther, and Billy Graham all point to John’s Gospel as the first bible book everyone should read and know well. Yet while the other three Gospels each get their own year in our Sunday lectionary, John is only woven in among them in bits and pieces. Join us Sunday mornings at 9am as we put together the whole picture – and see how it transforms our lives and our worship of the Lord. Bring your bible and a notebook – PC’s notes will be available on our website during the week following most sessions.

New Security Alarm

EVERYONE should be aware that the cameras remain closed while we are in the building and the alarm is off (so big brother is not watching you). But when armed, the new monitoring company can talk (confront intruders) through the cameras. Our St. Peter security team can also turn on the cameras at any time to check the building as needed from their phones.

If you have a KEY or otherwise NEED TRAINING on the new system, follow these steps:

We will transition to the new security system and cameras on February 1st, 2026.

  • Attend a 5-minute training in the coat room with Pastor Clark after worship on one of the following: 1/11, 1/18, or 1/25.
  • Receive a new card with the new code (it is changing), on/off instructions, and password for false alarms.
  • SIGN OFF on the list beside the alarm panel, so that we can make sure everyone who needs training receives it before we turn on the new system on February 1st.

NEW OPPORTUNITY: February 8th (Scout Sunday) – Food Drive, Lunch, and Game Time

We have invited our Cub Scout Pack to join us for National Scout Sunday on February 8th. After worship, we will share in pizza and games in the Fellowship Hall.

Cub Scout Pinewood Derby – Help Prep, Host Hospitality, or Be an “Outlaw”

  1. “Be an Outlaw” – You are invited to join the other adults who prepare cars that do not have to follow the rules. Jump in anytime. Race is on Saturday, Jan 31st.
  2. Help the Kids Prepare: We are looking for 1-2 people who are experienced with a scroll saw to help cutting car blocks on the following dates:
    • Thursdays, January 15th and 22nd, 6:30-7:30pm (Emmons School, just up the road from SPLC)
  3. Host Hospitality – Saturday, January 31 at St. Peter
    • Races start at 9:30 AM, volunteers are requested to arrive at 8:45 AM
    • Our function is to help with managing the food, like we did last year.

For any or all of these, call or text Dave Gurnee, 574-315-5747.

College Boxes – Donation Deadline THIS SUNDAY!

Please continue bringing yummy, non-perishable food items to add to our Valentine’s care packages for members of our congregation who are in college or grad school. We will be sending TWELVE boxes this year! There’s a large bin under the slat wall for any donations. Gluten-free or “healthy-ish” snacks are a great idea, also. Last day to donate is THIS Sunday, January 25. Any questions, see Cindy Matthews.

Sewing Group Needs Sheets!

If you have old or unused bed sheets, please bring them to the sewing ladies! They can use any size, flat or fitted. They prefer cotton or cotton-poly, but any sheet will be gratefully accepted. See Nancy Kroll with questions. And thank you so much!

Sunday School Lessons

Parents (and prayer partners, too!), check here each week for what your children will be hearing about in Sunday School.

January 25 (Unit 2, Lesson 8) – In Christian education this week, we learn how “Fishers Follow.” Spotting some fishing boats by the shore of Galilee, Jesus turns Simon Peter’s boat into a floating pulpit. He preaches from the boat and then commands the disciples to put out to fish. Although they had fished all night without a catch, now they find their nets full to bursting. Recognizing his sinfulness, Peter falls down in front of his Savior and Lord, who calls him to a new kind of fishing. Ask, “How does God help us recognize our sinfulness? How does He rescue us from our sins?”

Thank You – and Thanks be to God

Bible Studies & Ministry Updates and Opportunities

Sunday Servants Gather Before Worship

All who help lead the Divine Service gather promptly at 10:05am to take 3 minutes to prepare their hearts and minds for worship. If you are serving as altar guild, usher, crucifer/acolyte, lector, greeter, tech person, elder, musician/dancer, doorkeeper or other HEART member, etc. on a particular Sunday, please come together for quick introductions and short prayer led by Deaconess Amy Smessaert. Together, we will ask God to bless our service to God’s people as we live connected in spiritual formation in Christ.

Mid-Week Bible Studies

THURSDAY MORNING, 9am at church:
We continue our study on the book of Isaiah. On February 5, we’re beginning a new study on the book of Joshua. Connect with Paula Ryan or call Renee in the office (574-255-5585) if you are interested in joining.

FRIDAY NIGHT: 1st and 3rd Fridays 6:30pm: Connect with John Schroeder or Mike Fonck if you’re interested in joining. This year, we are studying the book of Acts, featuring a companion video series that we’ll watch together.

Pick Your Next Usher Date!

Thanks to everyone who has served as an usher or part of an usher team. It’s time to pick another date to serve! Please sign up on the Sunday Servants sheet on the slat wall. You can see the specific list of duties, with video demos, here. A veteran usher will assist you and teach you one extra duty beyond communion each time you serve.
