Carpet and Painting – We’re On, and We Need YOU!
By the grace of God and your generosity, we are in a position to do the full carpeting job–and also to paint! So we will use the full pledge; please submit yours now if you haven’t already. Checks to St. Peter, Memo: “Carpet and Paint,” can be put in the plate or mailed to the office.
In addition, we actually need to have two “work days” and could use a few more helpers, if possible. If you are NOT already on PC’s list from the commitment cards, please click here to sign up to help on either of the following days:
- Saturday, June 13, 8:30am (until done) – PAINT prep. Moving materials and furniture away from walls, removing cove base (rubber baseboard) with a utility knife and steady pulling.
- Saturday, June 20, 8:30am (until done) – CARPET demo and prep. Cover walls or items needing protection in plastic, rip out carpet.
Summer Outreach
We continue to pray for the Spirit of Pentecost to empower us this summer in blessing, friendship-building, and sharing the prophetic witness of love and forgiveness. We pray that He helps us make these into regular habits, and that over the summer, He will lead each of us toward a person or family we could invite to some opportunity to get to know one another better. Please keep those goals in front of you this summer, and keep praying!
To help us support each other in pursuing these goals, we also would encourage you to:
- Consider forming a “text group” with your In-N-Out small group, or another group of St. Peter friends, where you might briefly share stories when you connect with other people or otherwise “try it out.” This will keep outreach intentionally on our minds and will provide practical examples and encouragement to help us “see how it can be done.” Keep texts short and to the point, and leave others anonymous (general best policy). You might also be interested to know that your Elders, Mission Leadership Team, and Pastors have created one of these text groups together.
- Example Text Story (from PC): “The other day, I noticed that the guy delivering my bulk mulch had a high school sports shirt on with a Greek motto on the back. So, flipping the script on our “biomen syndesmoi” shirts, I said: “hey, I see you have a Greek motto on your shirt. That’s unusual for a high school – why did they choose that?” He actually didn’t know, but we had a good chat about his former high school, the Northridge Raiders. It was a good connection, and I learned something about a community school I didn’t know much about.”
[That’s all you’d really need to say – and note that this is something anyone could have done. But I’ll also add, just for fun – and to sound a note of realistic expectations: since I happen to know Greek, I actually gave him the translation of the motto, hoping he’d go “how do you know Greek?,” which would lead to me saying I’m a pastor, which might then open another door. But he didn’t bite, and he had a schedule to keep that prevented another “swing.” Oh well, it was still a good connection!]
**Shout out to Pastor Borger for this text-group idea!

WoSP Summer Picnic – Sunday, June 28, 1pm
If you are a woman, high school or older, you are welcome to attend! Hosted at the home of Marty and Jan Orlowski, the gathering will include lunch followed by deciding where to allocate the money we’ve raised this year. Please sign up under the slat wall no later than Sunday, June 21. No need to bring anything – sign-up is just so Jan has a count and we know who is gluten-free. Any questions, see Paula Ryan or Jan.
Thank you from Joel Krueger
Dear St. Peter Congregation and members of the RLA School Board,
I was surprised, but honored, to be recognized for my ten years of service to RLA as a Spanish instructor at the end of worship on May 31. My experience as a teacher at RLA represented ten years of joy and many blessings. I had the opportunity to work with a caring and dedicated staff and with a multitude of great young people who are Growing by the Cross. Many thanks also for the thoughtful and generous gift. It is greatly appreciated.
<3, Joel Krueger

ICYMI – Contact info for the new members is available on one-page sheets on the slat wall. If you don’t have a Member Directory, grab one off the slat wall. You can insert the New Members sheet in your directory to use until the new directory is printed in September for Rally Day. Let Renee know if you have any questions.
Home-Health Aid
A member of the congregation owns an almost-new shower chair and is willing to donate it since it’s no longer needed. If you or someone you know could use a shower chair, please let the office know and we can put you in touch. Thank you.
