Announcements 5.15.20

Worship this Sunday 5/15, 10:15am and Connecting as the Body

  • Limited In-Person by RSVP: We are thankful to begin slowly re-opening in-person worship with extra precautions. These precautions include socially-distanced seating, which presently limits participation to twenty (20) households by reservation only. To review our community guidelines and make your reservation for in-person worship, please click here!
  • Facebook Live Streaming and Recording: we also continue to offer a livestream of the service and a glitch-free recording that posts immediately after the stream ends on our Facebook page. Click here for this week’s online worship folder and the link to our Facebook page!

We look forward to joining you in common worship, whether in-person or online! Please also know that your pastors and other leaders are continuing to develop still more creative ways to safely foster worship and connecting as the Body of Christ. We also encourage you to continue being safely creative in connecting yourselves and serving your neighbors!

NEXT SUNDAY, 5/24 starts Summer Worship Schedule

  • Worship will begin at 9am
  • Adult Bible Study and Sunday School will be on pause for the summer

From RLA and Your MLEA Board

Check out the latest from RLA and see how you can support our school in this time that has strained budget, plans, and the usual process for enrollment.  Click here to see the brief letter from our MLEA Board.

A special request for RLA 8th-graders (shhh, don’t spoil the surprise)!

An important part of our closing to every school year is to send our 8th graders off with a blessing where students, parents, teachers surround and lay our hands on them. Obviously, that will have to look different this year, but we want to give them our blessing. At this time when they are particularly feeling physically isolated, we want them to know that they are surrounded in love and support as they move forward into their next adventure. We are asking all of the RLA community – students, parents, teachers, churches, friends – to trace and cut out paper hands.  They can be cut out of any paper, of any color.  We just ask that you don’t include any names, yours or the graduates, so we can evenly distribute them. We have ten 8th graders, so we will need lots of hands!  We are having a drop off day at RLA on May 15th from 1-6:30pm and will come out to your car with a box to collect the hands. If you are uncomfortable or unable to drop off at school, email Miss Lisa (lisa@rlasouthbend.com) and she will make arrangements come pick them up before May 22nd. Thank you in advance for helping us shower our graduates with love!

Do you still need a mask?

Our own Lisa Peters has graciously offered to make a mask for those in the Church who still need one. (We also thank Jill Reedstrom, who has already supplied several masks!).  If you would like Lisa’s help, please contact her at (765) 586-7848 or tomandlisa1990@yahoo.com. Thanks Lisa!

No Braille until after Labor Day

Braille is on break for the Summer. See you in the Fall and thank you for your service to God, St. Peter, our neighbors, and the Church!

Pray for the Election of a New Seminary President in St. Louis

The current President of Concordia Seminary–St. Louis, attended by both PB and PC, is retiring. A new president will be elected Saturday, May 16. This is a very influential position for our Synod and the training of future generations of pastors. Please use the following prayer to lift up the process. It was written by the Rev. Dr. Kent Burreson, previously pastor here at St. Peter and now Professor and Dean of the Chapel at the Sem:

“You are the Source of Wisdom and Light, O Lord. Through Your Son Jesus Christ, the firstborn from the dead, all things unite in truth, beauty, and goodness for Your coming reign and the church’s life. Fill the electors of Concordia Seminary’s new president with the knowledge of Your will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding. May this knowledge and wisdom guide them to choose a president who will lead the Seminary with humility as it teaches the way of the Lord to the church’s future servants; through Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.”
